Equipment
Needed
|
 |
|
In
order to use video in an electronic portfolio, make sure
you've got the right equipment. At minimum for this tutorial,
you'll need:
Hardware
- a
computer that can record and play back sound. (This would
include a media player and a Windows 95- or Windows 98-compatible
sound card installed, so you can hear your videos.)
Software
- a
Web browser (Netscape or Explorer, version 4.X or
higher is best)
- video
editing software to perform basic editing tasks on your
videos. Pinnacle,
or iMovie are good software editing programs if you have
access to them.
Video
- a
digital video camera
- tripod
- miviDV
or High 8 tapes
- a
microphone to record sound.

Testing
Your Equipment For Capatibility
You should test your equipment to be sure it is compatible. First, create
a 30- to 45 -second video using your digital video camera (DV) to use as
a test video clip. If your video recorder utilizes the USB (Universal Serial
Bus) interface or a FireWire, you can simply plug the device into the back
of a computer.
