The
next step is deciding where you would like to add video in
your portfolio. It all depends on how many videos you would
like to make. There are many choices here.
You may want to have one on your home page as an introduction to your portfolio.
Perhaps another displaying a demonstration could be placed on one of your pages
listing a link to your papers and other work. You may also want to have a link
to
a video
resume at the top of your resume page. You could even have a link to your
video
references
on
your home page and on your resume page. And for fun, you may have one on a personal
page
about you of a video from a family vacation. There are many possibilities here
too.
Location
is Everything...
Here
are some examples of videos placed in portfolios:
Example
#1: Precille Boisvert's professional electronic portfolio
has a variety of features that catch your attention when
the page is loaded. Her video can be found on her Introduction
page which is linked from her home page. Precille displays
a list of items that can be located on each of her links
from her home page allowing the user to see there
is a video available. Precille
notes
that
you will
need
QuickTime
player to view her video
and
provides a link to the site where this can be obtained.
Example
#2: Elisa E. Beshero-Bondar's
portfolio includes a digital video
demonstration of her teaching
a college level course. The video is strategically placed
on a page where she is able to show an example of her teaching.
The portfolio,
has a link titled Teaching with Technology where her digital
clip can be located. The
clip is embedded within a page with information about the
course,
the discussions
taking place and the technology used when creating the
clip.
Example
#3: Christine James's portfolio, uses
a small demonstration video. The video can be located on
her Teaching Philosophy page where it is embedded above
a description of Christine's teaching philosophy.
Now that
we have completed Video in Electronic Portfolios lets go
on to Video and Web pages.
