Why add video to your electronic portfolios?

It is much more exciting to give a potential employer or graduate school recruiter a CD-ROM or a Web address to your dynamic E.C. portfolio with video, than a plain resume. An E.C. portfolio with video components can provide an interactive and exciting presentation for an audience. The different technologies available today allow for unique ways to produce a portfolio with various methods to display information such as video.

Digital video equipment, video editing programs, and varying ways of creating professional videos now enable new and unique ways to document skills. Video can be a great vehicle for illustrating a point or creating a visually dramatic presentation to grab the attention of an audience. One method is the use of video as an introduction to an E.C. portfolio. Another would be to complete a demonstration. Just as a text based introduction of a job seeker could be used on the first page of the E.C. portfolio, so could a video clip with snap shots of the potential employee in various places displaying small clips of them at work. Just as a text explanation and pictures could show the work of a job seeker, so could video clips, but with actual exhibitions of their products at work.
